My registry office says they can supply their own celebrant.
An Independent Celebrant offers an alternative to the traditional registrar or church service. They are not tied to a single faith or belief system.
They can deliver ceremonies that combine elements from different faiths, beliefs and cultures or deliver totally religious free ceremonies.
An Independent Celebrant can perform ceremonies anywhere but under UK law their ceremonies are not currently legally binding, (although this is currently under review).
Many Civil Registrars now offer to bring a Celebrant with them. This allows slightly more flexibility on the actual service but please do not assume that you will get a full celebrant- package; most importantly, they will not meet with you frequently, support you throughout the entire planning process and lead the ceremony on the day. They are also unable to include anything that contains religious elements in your service. Even a popular song with a religious reference cannot be included. The celebrant provided by the county office will be restricted in what they can offer according to county regulations.
*How different does a sunny day make us all feel? It is now a lovely time to be planning weddings and thinking about all the wonderful venues couples have chosen.
I have now joined ‘Hitched’ as part of my marketing plan and their team are putting me in touch with couples using a huge variety of venues in Kent, Sussex and Surrey.
Maybe some of you are having an Easter wedding?
Wherever you are, I hope your day reflects all the ideas you have dreamed about during the planning process.
Remember the wedding is a day but the memories made will last a lifetime.
